I grew up in Olympia playing sports my whole life. I played basketball growing up and played on a competitive team for 5 years and have always had a passion for fitness. When I wasn’t playing basketball, I was constantly working out in group classes to stay in shape for basketball season.

After high school is when I found CrossFit! I’ve been doing CrossFit for 7 years now. Since I grew up playing sports, one of my favorite things about CrossFit is the competitive aspect and the community.

I worked as the CFI gym manager for about a year and during that time realized my passion for the gym. I’m so excited to be able to bring improvements to the gym and keep building the community!

  • Sam, Owner

I am an Olympia native that grew up playing sports and kicking ass at tetherball. After high school, I went to Caldwell, Idaho, where I attended and played football at The College of Idaho (Go Yotes!) I earned All Conference Awards 2 years and was a 4 year starter at left tackle for the Yotes while earning my degree in Business Administration/Marketing. My full-time job is in sales for a company called Socopac. We sell flexible plastics to the food industry, and I’d be happy to talk about barrier specific resins if you’re into that.

I have been doing CrossFit for 5 years now with my stunning fiancé Nicole by my side. I’m really looking forward to this opportunity to make improvements in this gym and have it become a big of part of my life as I know it has been for Nicole over the past couple of years.

You can expect to see me around the gym doing lots of projects. If we haven’t met yet, I hope we get a chance to. Become my friend and you’ll most likely be offered a cold beer more than once!

I played sports growing up and have always been active. After high school, my workout habits were on and off. I got into group fitness classes in my early 20's. I became a certified Body Attack instructor. However, since starting CrossFit, I can't imagine doing any other type of workout! I love the atmosphere and how much the workouts vary.

My favorite WODs are Annie and Helen. Least favorite: Karen, because, well, wall balls.

  • Sam, Coach

My fitness background is six years of competetive synchronized swimming in junior high/high school, CrossFit Level 1, and ACE certified Peer Fitness trainer for my fire department.

Three months after my second son was born, my husband talked me into trying CrossFit. I was nervous and apprehensive after watching online videos of badass women dominating workouts, but also excited to see if I could do it. I promised him a six-month "trial" basis, but after only three I was hooked. A year later, I was training for my first competition. Now, many years later, I still love the sport and the coaching. I love to watch new members take that first step through the door and the amazing gains they make in the first several months!

  • Sally, Coach

Hometown: Johnson City, TN; most recently from Birmingham, AL

    Certifications:

    CF-L1

    200 Hour Yoga Teacher

    Barre Above Instructor

    Favorite Movements:

strict pull ups, burpees, unilateral dumbbell movements, anything handstands

    Least Favorite Movement:

    Rowing and wall balls

    Favorite Food:

Things in bowls (smoothie bowls, poke bowls, salads, grain bowls) and chocolate chip cookies

All my favorite things involve anything that is active and/or outside. I've tried every form of exercise at least once (swimming, triathlon, road running, trail/ultra running, mountain biking, climbing, yoga, barre) and have taught some sort of group fitness class (spinning, water aerobics, yoga, and barre) since 2010.

I started my CrossFit journey on 1/24/17. I walked in (to what I would later learn was the fittest gym in Alabama) with a nearly expired groupon and had no idea what I was doing or what I was getting myself into. Which was probably for the best, because if I knew, I probably would have ran and not come back, because running is easy and comfortable and familiar. On paper, CrossFit seemed like it would be a good fit for me- I get bored doing the same thing and I'm not really awesome at any one thing; I really just love to move my body and can appreciate a wide range of movement practices. CrossFit was (and still kind of is) overwhelming, intimidating, and uncomfortable - all those things that make you grow. It blew my mind how it could make 10 minutes seem like a lifetime. I found myself falling in love with the challenge, intensity, and the passion of the people it seemed to attract - a group of fit people constantly pushing themselves to be just a bit better than yesterday. CrossFit is a lot of type 2 fun, and that's my favorite type of fun. One of the first things I did after moving across the country was join CFI, and I quickly found a new home away from home.

I’ve been competing and enjoying fitness and sports all my life.

After college I completed multiple half marathons and in 2013 I joined my first crossfit gym and fell in love!

I’ve also Trained for a bodybuilding figure competition in 2019 and took 4th place in my division!

I love competing, I love to be challenged and constantly learning something new, and I love being apart of a special community. These are just a few reasons why Crossfit is my go-to choice for fitness.

I enjoy teaching and helping others and have a special Interest in coaching other moms like myself! From post-partum mothers trying to heal, gain strength, energy and confidence while caring for a new human— to others just looking to find a balance with caring for their children while still putting their mental, emotional, and physical health as a priority.

I believe that fitness of any kind, as long as you enjoy it, push yourself, and find what fits into your life, can have the biggest effect and improve almost every facet of life.

For me, fitness restores balance to a life that sometimes feels overwhelming. Fitness instills a sense of self confidence, self love, strength, and personal ability in all areas of my life.

Through coaching my hope is to help instill that same perspective in others and motivate them to lead healthy lives.

When I’m not at the gym I am usually with my two little boys, husband and dog or at a local salon working my magic on clients hair and helping them feel their best!
